Subotica Entertainment



Subotica Entertainment Ltd is one of Ireland's leading film and television production companies and was incorporated in June 1999 by producers Tristan Orpen Lynch and Dominic Wright.

The company's first production in 1999 was the $4million feature film Night Train, directed by John Lynch and starring John Hurt and Brenda Blethyn. Night Train screened to excellent reviews in many film festivals including Toronto, Cairo, Palm Springs and Brussels and went on general release in 2000.

In 2000 Subotica produced David Caffrey's On The Nose, a Canadian Irish co-production with Scannon Mor, Vancouver. The film is a comedy starring Robbie Coltrane, Dan Aykroyd and Brenda Blethyn.

In 2001 the company also produced the eight part period drama Random Passage starring Colm Meaney and Aoife McMahon for RTE and CBC, Canada.

Their next feature was Aisling Walsh's Song for a Raggy Boy, starring Aidan Quinn, Iain Glen and Marc Warren, which premiered to a standing ovation at the Sundance Film Festival in Jan 2003. It won the Golden Swan Best Film Award at the Copenhagen Film Festival in August 2003 and has won some thirteen awards internationally. Sales are through ContentFilm International.

For RTE the company produced a major documentary series on The Abbey Theatre, Ireland's national theatre, which screened to celebrate the centenery of the theatre in January 2004.

They also produced the 4 hour TV drama, Proof, about human trafficking and high-level corruption in Irish society, which screened on RTE in January 2004 with exceptional audience ratings. Subotica produced a highly successful second series of Proof, which aired in April 2005. Both series have sold to many territories worldwide though sales agent Minotaur.

Their latest movie is Niall Heery's Small Engine Repair starring Iain Glen, Steven Mackintosh and Lawrence Kinlan. Its first industry showing will be at the London Screenings in June, with the Irish premiere following at the Galway Film Festival on July 14th, 2006. International Sales are through Moviehouse Entertainment.

Many more exciting and challenging productions are in the pipeline, as Subotica continues to improve and expand slate of projects in development.

Hey, guys! I was wondering about the origin of the company name. The only meaning I know is a city in Vojvodina (Serbia).

I only saw "Proof", and was very impressed by it. There are only two "installments", right? Any plans for more?
